Today Spick and Span window cleaners were contracted to clean the windows of an Eco-friendly building currently used as an educational and garden centre in Kennington SE11.

The contemporary building built in 2005, opened by the HRH Prince of Wales in 2007  is set in  Kennington SE11within sight of the House of Commons and the sound of Big Ben .  The glass areas that required cleaning were within the sites training rooms, offices, reception, meeting rooms, toilets  and hall.

Different combinations of cleaning methods were used to get the best results, and flexibility was required of the window cleaner who worked ,as the the training rooms could only be cleaned  intermittently, whenever the students took a break. However Spick and Span window cleaners were more than happy to meet this very reasonable request.

After being shown around the building the first area to have the window’s cleaned was a ground floor meeting room.

The meeting room had four, four-paned wooden casement windows as well as a glass door that was cleaned inside and out. The  method used was the traditional window cleaning method of a strip-washer and squeegee along with the use a window cleaner’s scrim. After this attention moved to a large hall also situated on the ground floor level . The Hall had low-level and high-level glass that had become dusty because of recent floor polishing.The low-level glass consisted of approximately 17 8ft by 2ft glass panels and one glass door. The high level glass consisted of approximately 34 panes of varying sizes, the majority of these were cleaned using a 35 ft telescopic window cleaning pole and purified water making it into a very light and airy space once again.

It was noticed that on a number of the window panes of the hallway there was resin like substance that spotted the glass and so this was promptly scrapped from the glass without scratching the surface beneath.

Many of the first floor windows were cleaned externally by standing on a sturdy platform.

As the window cleaner walked around the building through the gardens to access the windows at the back of window care was taken to keep to the pathed areas and high – and low-level glass was thoroughly scrubbed and the rinsed using the purified water window cleaning machine.

The reception area windows were noticeably dirty due to it being located so closely to the garden, and also smeary, these were thoroughly scrubbed with a window cleaners strip-washer and squeegee afterwards to be left  smear free.

After completing the work the facilities manager who obviously was impressed with the results remarked that they looked two hundred percent better than they had looked before.

Today Spick & Span window cleaners cleaned a property in  the Loughborough Junction end of  Camberwell on behalf of a group of students.The student who  arranged for the window cleaning on behalf of her housemates was on a strict budget and needed the work done before leaving for college, therefore the time selected for this job was early morning, but this also brought with it the challenge of keeping noise to a minimum so as to prevent disturbance to her fellow housemates that were still asleep.

At the end of the job she commented on her satisfaction with the speed that the work was done as well as the price.

The converted  period house in Camberwell had ten  windows in total , five of which were first floor, and the other  five were on the  ground floor . The window style was multi paned Georgian type sashes, therefore the method of cleaning that was suggested was the water-fed pole method of cleaning, so as to prevent lengthy time spent with detailing.

Work started at the back of the property where the windows were given a thorough rinse with purified water jetting out of an abrasive brush which scrubbed not only the glass panes making them immaculately clean , but also the wooden sash frames. Dirt  could literally be seen running down the glass panes as the purified water rinsed  above.

The student who required the window cleaning was impressed that window cleaning had moved forward from the use of ladders, and couldn’t help but observe the immediate difference that the cleaning  had brought to the kitchen window’s where she was eating her breakfast.

After cleaning the kitchen windows ,a normally difficult to reach window above a bathroom extension ,was cleaned with ease using a telescopic pole, the lower frosted bathroom windows were cleaned with the same pole that had been retracted .

After  drying the tyres sufficiently on the trolley that had transported the water and machinery  to the garden ,the trolley was then wheeled to the front of the house where the window cleaning resumed.

The three top windows at the front were noticeably dirty, particularly the top third of the window panes where road film and soot had gathered, theses were scrubbed with the high pressure jet window cleaning system, which after cleaning revealed a light airy room inside the home. Finally the ground floor sash window was cleaned as was a rectangular fanlight above the front door. The whole job was completed with this method in just forty five minutes, which was most appreciated by these student who had time constraints.

Today Spick & Span window cleaning went down to East Dulwich and did exterior window cleaning of five bedroom Edwardian property that also has a very large glass kitchen extension as part of a regular six-weekly cleaning contract.

The client, who initially contacted Spick & Span via a local community forum in East Dulwich on a one-off basis, has since set up regular window cleaning to maintain the large glass kitchen extension exterior as well as the windows at the front of her Edwardian property.

After cleaning the leaded glass at the front and side of the house on the ground and first floor with a purified water method of cleaning, the large glass kitchen extension is cleaned. The large glass kitchen extension has approximately 14 large 2m by 1m panes and 5 glass roof light panels  that measure approximately 2m by 1m. all of which require cleaning. When accessing the roof to clean the roof lights above, care is taken, and it has been decided only to clean this part of the the kitchen extension either early, or late in the day, as the roof felt is set on bitumen  which melts and becomes unstable during times of extreme heat. When accessing the roof area leaves and other debris that hamper sunlight from entering the kitchen and office below are easily removed and glass panels are thoroughly  washed.

The large bi-fold kitchen doors and window panes that bound the extension are all cleaned from ground level with a very short extension pole.

It is always the aim of Spick and Span window cleaning to keep hassle to a minimum for all clients. For example during cleaning, maximum effort is made to prevent unnecessary disturbances,also if the visit of the window cleaner is during a busy time, whereby the homeowner has been unable to visit the cash machine an electronic invoice is sent and BACS payment is encouraged.

In one of the second rooms there was putty on the glass that surrounded the window frame causing the window to look unsightly this was scraped off after the glass had been washed. In the stairwell area there was a large Sash window that was badly water marked and stained and while this did not come up perfect, because of damage to the glass itself, it was greatly improved through use of a water spot removal chemical and cleaning. After these areas frosted glass was cleaned in the bathroom and toilet and three sash windows were cleaning in the lounge and dining area two of which required paint removal cleaning. A difficult to reach window was cleaned above the kitchen sink and a stained glass window near the front door was cleaned with a damp micro-fibre cloth and  a fanlight window above the front door in the communal entrance was cleaned.

The client, who was a perfectionist, was very satisfied with the results. The whole job from start to finish took three hours ,for one window cleaner to complete.

Today Spick and Span window cleaners rapidly responded to a caller who required an emergency window clean in SW10, Chelsea.The owner of the four storey property, just off Fulham Road, was moving house and so desperately needed window cleaning before leaving the property.

Within  just one and a half hours of calling, the window cleaner was on location at Chelsea and spent just two hours at the property cleaning, which was the time that the homeowner had specified.

To clean the outside, the bottom sash window was raised and an extension pole was used and the cleaning process was repeated .

With the multi-paned sashes a quicker cleaning method was used involving a wet and dry scrim. First the window pane was scrubbed with a wet scrim and afterward a dry scrim was used to buff out any smears.On the second floor two french doors, with glazed panels were cleaned, the tops of these were cleaned with an extension pole, and the lower parts were cleaned with a mop and squeegee. A ladder was used to access  the taller paned sashes on the ground floor of the house.

At the the front of the property was a basement which meant reaching the living room window would be difficult, however Spick and Span windows cleaners came equipped and made use of the latest window cleaning technology on the job, by employing ladder-less window cleaning, which is the method of cleaning windows with purified water that is pumped through an extension pole with a brush on the end. With this equipment the window cleaners were able to clean the window effectively.

The homeowner remarked at how much difference it had made with the windows now made cleaner.

The job was begun early in the morning to allow the indoors of the windows to be cleaned before the homeowner left for work. Today Spick and Span went to West Dulwich, SE21, and cleaned a conservatory and glass roof kitchen extension for a family who are preparing to welcome visitors to their home in Dulwich.

Spick and Span arrived bright and early this morning to the property in Dulwich with all the specialized conservatory cleaning equipment ready and  prepared to clean the glass kitchen extension conservatory as well as roof both on the inside and on the outside.

From the  inside of the conservatory the outlook of the property  had become dim and gloomy looking, because of  debris and leaves and other grimy material that had settled on glazed panels on top of the conservatory roof, there was also glue marks left over from stickers that had been removed and  muddy foot prints that the householders had on occasions attempted to remove in vain . On the interior  glass of the conservatory were finger marks and stains and other marks that needed cleaning , which their toddler had made .

To get the right cleaning results ,Spick and Span used an extension pole and the purified water method of cleaning, rather than traditional window cleaning methods on the conservatory roof glass, as this enabled the window cleaner to aggravate the dirt  that adhered to  glass on the roof top, also the bristles on the brushes that the window cleaner used were mono-filament, these were used to effectively lift off the grime . The windows were then rinsed with purified water, the water then  left to evaporate. The  end result of this was that the conservatory roof glass panels were all  left gleaming, the only marks which remained were some spots left by the oil based glue this was scraped and rinsed. When cleaning inside  it was vital that no water damage be caused. To prevent water damage inside, when the  conservatory roof was cleaned, dust sheets were put down below areas of work  and furniture  and children’s toys were  carefully moved out the way. the large glass panes that bounded the conservatory were cleaned with a window cleaning pad and squeegee and all remaining water marks and spots were rubbed with a damp cloth.

After all the tools were gathered up and packed away into the work vehicle. the work was inspected to ensure that it met with standards, and an arrangement was made to maintain the appearance of the conservatory and come to give it a clean once every three months.

The 2 storey building  was successfully cleaned by Spick and Span window cleaners and transformed once again into the bright studio that the architects had designed it to be. When all the glass  of the commercial building was cleaned, work was carried out on the offices and communal areas. In this area of the building there were around 25 windows of varying sizes, all glass of these areas were cleaned along with the PVC frames with the reach up high and wash method of cleaning. the difference after cleaning this area was instantly noticeable because originally they were filthy with soot and dust from the busy road nearby.All  windows after being scrubbed with abrasive window cleaning brushes were rinsed with purified water to ensure that they would dry without spots. Spick and Span window cleaners were booked to clean the stylish two bedroom flat which had floor-to ceiling glass at the start of a new tenancy of the current occupiers, and after they had recently decorated.

It was arranged that the window cleaning should begin  early morning, because of time constraints on the part of owners of the property. It was hoped that this would allow enough time for the flat to be cleaned internally and externally, before the owners set off for work.It was estimated that the work would take a maximum of one and a half hours.

Spick and Span arrived at 7am as  arranged and begun cleaning on all the interior glass of the property, staring on the inside of the second room. The windows were cleaned using  traditional methods of window cleaning , they were thoroughly scrubbed and wiped to loosen and remove all grime and hand-prints that had been left on the glass . This room also had paint marks , which had to be scraped off, with special care taken not to scratch the glass.  Particular care was taken when working inside the property  not to spill water on to the carpets .

Following this the front outside windows were all cleaned and all the frames were wiped.The last part of the flat to be cleaned was the glass front door. After asking the homeowner if she was happy with the results of the cleaning a brief exchange was made and and explanation was given how to She could  arrange future window cleans. With a brief look at the watch, the job had been completed with ten minutes to spare.
