Domestic window cleaner in SE15

Today Spick and Span window cleaners did a domestic window cleaning job in SE15.The work involved cleaning a two bedroom garden flat in a Victorian property internally and externally. The young couple had been in the accommodation for 18 months and the windows had not been cleaned during that time

There was a bay window at the front of the house, a fanlight above the front door, a velux window above the rear kitchen extension, two patio doors and a three pane window at the back of the kitchen. All the windows of the property were cleaned thoroughly as were all the frames.

The windows were mainly dusty due to being located on a busy road, but there was also quite a lot of grime that had stuck to the glass on the inside of the flat.

The work began at the back of the property where all the frames were  first of all wiped to remove the dust and dirt. Then to remove the stubborn grime of the kitchen windows a chemical solution was applied and the grime aggravated , and scraped and then washed .

The velux window in the kitchen was reached by using a two-section ladder, and was cleaned on the inside only after a dust cover was put in place to prevent drips from soiling work surfaces and the floor beneath. As there was a problem with the mechanism of the velux window this  was unable to be opened, and so the outside of the kitchen velux was cleaned from a ladder placed in the garden, and was reached with an extension pole . The glass was scrubbed and then squeegeed and all remaining spots and marks were rubbed out with a scrim.

Cleaning continued with the windows and patio doors at the rear of the home after which internal window cleaning was done on the front bay window.

To prevent the curtains from getting wet they were safely propped to the side to allow access to all the glass and this was cleaned in an s motion with both the hand mop and squeegee, all water runs were caught so as to prevent stains on surfaces underneath, at this point almost all the work was complete except the fanlight above the door, and the outside of the bay window, these were cleaned, as were the frames.

It was noticeable afterwards the difference in the properties appearance and the homeowners were very satisfied which was indicated by their generous tip.

Secondary glazing window cleaners

Secondary glazing panel window cleaning

Today Spick and Span window cleaning cleaned the windows of a 6 bedroom property in Denmark Hill. All of the glass within the house was cleaned  internally and externally, this job took one window cleaner a day and a half to complete.

Work began on the first floor of the home, which housed two offices, the leaded windows of one of the offices was cleaned very delicately inside using a damp micro-fibre rag, the second office on the floor, which had a large 6 pane sash window with hinged  secondary glass windows attached, was cleaned after unscrewing the secondary glazing, this was cleaned using a hand application mop and squeegee, the secondary glazing was also cleaned on both sides this way. In bedroom number one, on the first floor ,were two sash windows with secondary sliding glass, each one was maneuvered to allow the window underneath to be cleaned, the bathroom and toilet had opaque glass and so was cleaned very simply using a damp cloth. The second bedroom on the  first floor had two sash windows with sliding secondary glass panels, which were cleaned the same as the windows in the first bedroom.

Moving up to the second floor, there were three bedrooms, one with a small six paned bay window, which had secondary glazing ,this was cleaned internally and externally by leaning out of the window, the second room had  a  small sized sash window which was cleaned much the same , and the third room had a large velux window was cleaned by pulling it’s catch and reversing the window so that both sides could be cleaned effectively.

At the entrance way of the ground floor there was a  stained glass door surround, in the porch area and a fanlight above the front door which was cleaned. In the front room was a large six paned bay sash window  with secondary glazing ,also a set of two paned sash windows with removable secondary glass attached. All of the secondary glazing within this room was detached with great care and the glass panels were cleaned on both sides and the sash windows were cleaned internally, before the secondary glazing was replaced. The opaque glass of the door leading from the back garden to the living room was  cleaned with a cloth. The kitchen had four windows of various descriptions, which were  cleaned. In the lounge was floor to ceiling glass and  a set of french doors and Georgian style glass conservatory which was washed internally with the use of a ladder. The perspex roof of the conservatory was cleaned using  a  a special chemical and hose pipe . After all of the glass had been washed internally the front of the ground floor and first floor were cleaned externally with purified water and a water-fed pole, this method was also used at the side and rear of the property, with the exception of the conservatory, which  was cleaned using more  traditional methods of window cleaning.

Local window cleaner in SE22

Today Spick and Span went down to East Dulwich to clean the windows of a two bedroom flat in a converted Victorian terrace in SE22. The windows were in desperate need of a clean. The homeowner required window cleaners local to the East Dulwich area and therefore called Spick and Span to provide her with the service. The windows  of the property that needed cleaning were high up on the second storey of the property, and therefore would have been very risky for a window cleaner to reach from a ladder which no doubt was one of the reasons why they had not been cleaned by anybody  for such a long time.Three of the windows were located  at the front and two windows were at the back of the property, all were wooden framed sash windows. The homeowner was a little embarrassed by the condition of the windows, and desired only to be able to see out of them again. This was achieved through the deep methods of window cleaning that Spick and Span use.

Spick and Span window cleaners washed the windows using abrasive brushes and jets of purified water pumped through a pole. areas where water could seep through the glass were taped to prevent water ingress. The windows at the front of the house were dirtiest as they faced a busy main road and so not only were these windows  scrubbed, but they were also rinsed to ensure that all dirt was removed. high concentrations of dirt underneath the frames of the sash were also cleaned .At the back of the property  the windows were not quite so dirty being away from the road, but nevertheless still needed a good clean. The water-fed pole was used to clean one of these sash windows  but the other sash of the master bedroom could not be cleaned this way because a kitchen extension of the ground floor flat within the property restricted access to this window.Instead this window was cleaned by climbing out of the bedroom and cleaning it using traditional window cleaning methods  from  on top of the roof of kitchen extension. Care ws taken to minimize any risk in cleaning the window this way. After the final window was cleaned externally and inspection was made of cleaning to ensure that it met with the homeowners approval. After touching up a few areas a schedule was requested to have the windows cleaned every three months.

Glass panel roof window cleaners

Lean-to Window Cleaning

Today Spick and Span window cleaners were called out to Telegraph Hill SE14 to clean a three storey, five bedroom house with  a glass extension kitchen, and a  glass panel roof.

After showing Spick and Span around the property to make an assessment, the homeowner expressed doubt as to  whether  the glass panels in the roof could be cleaned or the windows above the glass kitchen extension could be accessed, but Spick and Span found ways to clean these to a satisfactory standard. Spick and Span window cleaners were able to clean the glass panel roof windows by working from a balcony and using an extension pole with an applicator pad attached, and then following the same action, but with a squeegee. The velux window in the loft conversion was also cleaned internally and externally.

The glass kitchen extension roof was cleaned externally, by leaning a ladder against a partition wall and vigorously scrubbing the panels from above .Afterwards the loosened dirt and excess water was directed away from the glazed panels by using a squeegee. The glass kitchen extension was cleaned internally using a step ladder, special care was taken to prevent dirty water from dripping onto the table and other furniture beneath,  this was accomplished by placing a waterproof sheet below.

All of the external windows at the front of the property were brushed clean using purified water run through a 30 ft. water-fed pole, special attention was given to areas  beneath the frames of the sash windows where dirt often collects. The front windows were cleaned on the insides using traditional window washing methods, this was especially helpful for the windows above the glass kitchen extension at the back of the property, which could not be reached with a water-fed pole or a ladder, instead they were cleaned  from inside the property, the sashes were positioned so that the windows could be cleaned from  a step ladder.

Some of the windows at the back of the property could not be opened , and so could not be cleaned on the outside from inside the property, as window locks prevented them from opening, therefore the water-fed pole was used to clean these outside.

All furniture was put back into their original positions after the work was completed and all tools used for the job were gathered before payment was collected .After asking the householder if she was happy with the results, she said that she was very satisfied .

Local window cleaner West Dulwich

Velux cleaning

Spick and Span window cleaners went down to West Dulwich today to clean the windows of a four bedroom semi-detached house in South Croxted Road in SE21.

The homeowner was in desperate need of a window cleaner who could clean all the outside glass of the property, but particularly the velux windows of the kitchen extension, which they required to be cleaned internally and externally .

The outside of the velux windows had a green scum that covered the glass severely restricting the daylight from into the kitchen, but also looking ugly from within.Internally the velux windows had thick grease covering them, as well as stickers.the velux were cleaned on the outside using a ladder and a stand-off.

After climbing up the ladder the green algae coating the velux glass was scrubbed with a window cleaners mop attached to an extension pole, and then rinsed with a squeegee. Difficult to reach windows above the kitchen extension were cleaned using purified water pumped through a water-fed pole.

Cleaning the velux on the inside of kitchen was done using a ladder and a three stage cleaning process, so as to prevent water spillages. First a lightly damp window cleaners mop was used, second a scraper was used to remove stickers from the windows , and third a micro-fibre cloth was used to buff out any remaining marks.

The client was amazed at how much better the velux looked after cleaning. After completing the velux windows the glass in the  bi-folding doors to the kitchen was cleaned using a mop and squeegee, and cement or glue spots on the glass were scraped off.

At the front of the property was a glass roof which covered the porch area this was cleaned using a water-fed pole. The front windows of the house were PVC framed and so they were cleaned along the with the glass. The top frame was cleaned first so as to remove the dirt and to prevent this from running down the window panes. following this the glass was cleaned in a side to side motion ensuring the the windows were thoroughly brushed and the rinsed down with pure water. Included in the clean was the fanlight above the front door and the glass panes inside the door itself, these were cleaned using traditional window cleaning methods. While cleaning the front of the property a neighbour also took the opportunity to enquire of Spick and Span’s window cleaning services offered in West Dulwich.

Choosing a domestic window cleaner in Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Kensington

Chelsea_Kennington Window Cleaning

If you employ a domestic window cleaner to come to your residence to provide window cleaning services in SW7, or SW3, then you want the peace of mind to know that your property is  in safe hands. But with the multitude of window cleaning companies circulating the Internet, and with the constant barrage of window cleaners who may offer their services to you by dropping leaflets to your home, how can you ensure that the domestic window cleaner that you choose to come to clean your property in Chelsea, knightsbridge or kensington will leave you satisfied with the results?

Below is a list of some important factors that you should consider before selecting a window cleaner .

  1. When searching for a window cleaner always look for a professional window cleaning company. You often get exactly what you pay for,at the moment there is no law against a person saying that they are a window cleaner when in reality, they are not.
  2. How many years of experience do they have in the window cleaning industry?if they have only been operating for a short-while then it is very likely that they have not had sufficient time to master the techniques.
  3. Read online reviews and ask for references.
  4. Ask for a demonstration. A reputable window cleaner should  be more than happy to provide a demonstration of their workmanship.
  5. Ask whether they are members of a government recognised trade association, such as the federation of window cleaners.
  6. Ask for proof of insurance cover.
  7. Ask if they can provide proof of a CRB check statement.
  8. When you find a good, thorough, reliable, and trustworthy window cleaning company, stick with them.

Too many times today, people fall victim to making rash choices, and face the sad consequences, either feeling let down or dissatisfied with a window cleaner or window cleaning company , because of failing to do advance research. Many community forums are filled with the comments of people who have employed, what turned out to be dodgy tradesmen and have faced many dreadful experiences. By taking a little time, and by doing a due diligence homeowners can be spared, both the anguish and the fear of what to expect from their window cleaner, by looking for professional window cleaners that are fully vetted and work in the Chelsea, knightsbridge and Kensington regions of London. It is hoped that the above list will prevent you from making needless mistakes in this area.

Local window cleaner in SE15

Spick and Span window cleaners went to Nunhead today to clean a split level flat in Nunhead SE15. The split level Flat had six sash windows and one bay window all of which required cleaning.

The landlord of the property required an end of tenancy window cleaning service to prepare the flat for the arrival of some new tenants, although finding a window cleaner local to the Se15 area had proven difficult.

Spick and Span were contacted after the landlord had visited our website, and was extremely impressed with the ease in which arrangements were made. When doing the work she commented on the lack of fuss brought to her as a result of the way that the work was carried out .

Access to front bay window was restricted by a tree,  although this was overcome by using a water-fed pole. The front sash window and bay window was cleaned with a water-fed pole although two sash windows above the bay were inaccessible by pole because of the lip of the bay window below, so these were cleaned from the inside of the property.

Around the back were  three sash windows two could be cleaned from outside with the water-fed pole one was above an extension and so had to be cleaned from inside the property.

The landlord had just had the carpets of the home cleaned and so shoe covers were placed over shoes to prevent mud from soiling the carpets and the sash windows were cleaned from inside the house. Once inside It was noticed what a difference the external window cleaning had made. Mud that once clung to the sash windows had been washed off with purified water the only marks that remained were those inside the property which the landlord was cleaning herself.

The windows on the top floor of the house that were above the bay windows were cleaned from off of a step ladder by lowering and raising the sash windows whilst leaning out and mopping the glass, loosening the dirt with soapy water and squeegeeing the glass dry. Any parts of the glass that were missed were wiped with a clean cloth. At the stairwell upstairs was the other window that couldn’t be cleaned from the outside this was cleaned by climbing out of the ladder onto a roof and cleaning with a mop , squeegee and cloth.

At the end of the job the window cleaner was commended for the job done and for the efficiency of the service and a definite promise was made to use Spick and Span window cleaning services again in the near future.

Shop window cleaner near East Dulwich

Shop Fascia Glass Cleaning

Today Spick and Span window cleaners washed the glass of a  canopy roof of a restaurant that is due to open in Peckham near East Dulwich on the 8th of August. The  new owners of the restaurant had contacted a number of  local window cleaners to the East Dulwich area, but found Spick and Span to be the nearest and most reasonably priced window cleaners and so decided accept our offer, after receiving the quote.

The glass panels of the shop roof  had evidence of not having been cleaned for many years as they had algae all over. they also had moss growing on top as well as branches .The debris and soiling that was on the glass was deeply impressed and so required thorough scrubbing.

The difficulty in the job, was the location of the shop which is on a busy thoroughfare, where numerous people pass by . This presented a hazard, but was overcome. Another difficulty with the job was the glass access.  Reaching the high up glass roof window panels and scrubbing them was also compounded by the extreme turn in the weather.Because of these reasons Spick and Span window cleaners decided to clean the windows using a three stage cleaning process, working at different times during the day, and using a variety of glass cleaning techniques. The dirt and algae on the windows was first of all aggravated from the panes by using a soapy  glass washing solution and micro-fibre window cleaning pad on a carbon fibre  pole. After loosening the dirt this was then rinsed off, the final process involved repeating step one, but this time squeegeeing off the residual dirty water. After communicating well with the owners during this period of time and working within their parameters, Spick and Span window cleaners were highly praised for their work and willingness to go the extra mile in helping them with the launch of the new business venture.

A request was made by the owners for an invoice to be made out in the company name, this was met, and advice was sought from Spick and Span window cleaners about the  maintenance of the shop windows in the future as well as the possibility of  Spick and Span providing window cleaning on a ongoing basis After the jobs completion  an invoice was sent electronically.

Residential property window cleaner

Today Spick and Span window cleaners cleaned all the outside windows of a three bedroom end of terrace residential property located in East Dulwich, SE22.It is one of many residential properties that we have cleaned , although this was for the first time.

At the front of the residential property  were two sash windows and a bay window which were cleaned. At the rear were two sashes a wooden framed french door a sliding glass bi-fold door and a large all-glass kitchen extension which housed two velux window, which all were thoroughly washed, as was a UPVC framed window above the extension .

The time spent cleaning the windows at this his in total was 2 hours. The reason was that the homeowners had not had the windows cleaned in sometime due to building work.

The job ran very smoothly, although there was one or two access problems, for instance at the front of the house there were some slippery tiles and sand on some of the paving slabs, which made the ladder placement a concern, but this was overcome by locating a safer place to rest the ladder. At the back of the property it was decided not to use a ladder at all because of the risk, due to the wooden decking, and so a safer alternative in the water-fed pole method of window cleaning was used.

Access to window above ,and the velux windows above the kitchen extension was not straightforward as the tile above the extension were very fragile, and so could not be stood upon. But these were accessed and cleaned safely by working from a wall which provided a sturdy and safe platform to clean the glass from.

The kitchen extension was of complete glass, but the difficulty in cleaning this proved to be the thistles that had been planted tightly to the glass, these need to be treated sympathetically so as to prevent damage whilst glass washing, but the effect of the clean afterward was that the glass dazzled with a high sheen as the sun reflected off of it.

As the fanlight of the french door was cleaned, a little water ran inside of top of the seal, which was quickly noticed by the window cleaner, who then took preventative measures and cleaned the residual water that had leaked inside the house. the bi-fold doors were cleaned with a window cleaners hand mop and squeegeed off and after this the job came to an end and Spick and Span window cleaners went of to clean the windows of another residential property in  East Dulwich

Dirty windows cleaned in SW2

Grime removal landlord window cleaning

The windows of the 4 bedroom terraced house that were cleaned in Brixton today had not been cleaned for thirteen years. The windows had hard baked mud covering the top two thirds of the pane, which had a very dismal effect on the outward appearance of the property, but also effected the daylight  from reaching within.

The double fronted period house had very high ceilings meaning that for window cleaning the first floor was quite high and dangerous to access from a ladder.

A safer alternative of window cleaning was used, as the client required internal and external cleaning to bring the property back to standard.

Spick and Span chose to begin  their cleaning on the top floor on the  inside of the property, and out of the way of the homeowner who was working at home in an office downstairs, this was done so as cause minimum disturbance.

After cleaning a bay window on the inside, the sash windows were opened and then cleaned on the outside after flower pots were carefully removed from the ledges.

Furniture was covered over to prevent water drips and other debris from causing a mess in the room.

Many of the windows after being lubricated with glass cleaner were then scraped to remove years of dirt that had built up on the glass.

Black streaks of loosened dirt  rolled down the panes of glass and collected on the cross beam of the sash these were wiped clean with a clean cloth as were the window frames.

There was one particular window in the hallway on the top floor of the house that was the main source of light that the homeowner especially wanted clean. It was reached using a two section ladder, and the paint marks on it were removed.

After and hour or so had passed the client travelled upstairs and became quite emotional over the transformation that window cleaning was already starting to bring to her home.

In the bathroom were transparent glass tiles that had splashes of cement on the outside these were scraped off and the glass was polished with a micro-fibre cloth.

Next it was time to move downstairs to clean the windows in the front room, a bay window at the front, and french door leading through to a courtyard at the rear, these were cleaned as were windows in a kitchen and office.

As we walked through the home afterwards it became noticeable, the difference in the feel that the property now had, the daylight now shone in, made even more noticeable by the beautiful rays of  sunshine that lit up the day.
